For me MAZE Episode is the best.Yeah, this game is a gem and I hope, that Atarian will complete it, someday.
It has it's own charm and what I appreciate the most is he's writing the story all by himself and also creates the art and music on his own.
If you liked this game you might also like those Alone Amongst Demons games from sajuuk1988 .![]()
Yeah, the maze was one of the best additions to the game and I spent so much time in there. I just loved it, because it was non linear and you were free to decide where to go. I wish the entire game could be like this. I also would like to see Loki transforming and corrupting even slower, but have more naughty scenes in this story/ game. But I respect all efforts Atarian made for this game so far and I just love it.For me MAZE Episode is the best.
you do realized it's built in an old rpg maker which is limited on those two things you pointed out and just alt enter for fullscreenThis game is shit so far since I am not going to go farther than the main screen.
Its bg image is good quality but the buttons are barely readable.
More importantly, there are no options? Seriously? No option for sound and no option to make it windowed rather than full-screen (this one is even more pitiful as even the bg image of the main screen doesn't cover the whole space, making 2cm black margin around it).
Well, just done a research and found out there was this plug-in to add an option to toggle full-screen mod :you do realized it's built in an old rpg maker which is limited on those two things you pointed out and just alt enter for fullscreen
And what if you want to watch a stream or anything else at the same time ?can simply turn down the volume on my computer.![]()
also for these games on this type of rpg maker pressing f1 gives you the option settingsAnd what if you want to watch a stream or anything else at the same time ?

Oh right, I forgot that we can use the system audio mixer.
Thanks. Good to know as well, though those options only allows to toggle the sounds, not to change their volume.also for these games on this type of rpg maker pressing f1 gives you the option settings
hey at least those options lets you tell the game to full screen at launchThanks. Good to know as well, though those options only allows to toggle the sounds, not to change their volume.
Anyway, all those tips need to be known be the end-users in order to be used by them. Most player will just dump it because they don't know them and are not going to bother to do an online search to know.
That's why in-game options are a must have, to make it straight-forward and less bothering.
Yes it's an old engine and it has it's perks and it's cons.also, likely the dev might have other aspects in the foreground and a fine granular setting for sound tracks probly not high on the agenda.
to be honest, what they've come up after Ace doesn't count as game engine in my book.Yes it's an old engine and it has it's perks and it's cons.
Cons are ofc that the engine lacks features of the newer engines.
Such as window resizing and volume controls, as to which you'd probably use the windows mixer to set volume level.
The engine can be extended with new functions but the larger the game, the less it makes sense to do alterations that would force the player to re-play the entire game. Also the amount of time it might require to go over all the current content to implement such features.
The benefits with the old ruby engine, as ace is the last one of it's kind is that it's significantly less resource heavy and implementing some of the features into a newer engine might run poorly on modern machines. For instance the maze part would be very heavy to pull on the later html based engines.
Hench it makes more sense to simply finish the game and then make the next game on a newer engine.
I'm leaning towards using Pixelgame maker for the next project with all custom graphics ofc.
I've tried it enough to be comfortable with it.
Getting things done very slowly, don't know when my irl issues give me time to breathe. So how's the progress going? Still ETA about the update drop?
Well I still consider it a game engine. It just lacks a lot of performance.to be honest, what they've come up after Ace doesn't count as game engine in my book.
it's nothing but a google wrapper. toe pro, might be that one could do more with scripts and whatnot, and reduce the system load with webGL solutions and all that. the con, big one, it's a fuckin' browser. it's no longer a game engine designed to run games, it's a browser, with all the downsides a google app brings.
sure can do bigger pictures and all that, but out of the box the screen is not scalable, a fullscreen still not existent (full size window doesn't count!) and the system load is indeed heavy, even with what i've looked at comparably small projects.
hmmm i'm seriously concerned they will stick to having this google chrome and they will insist on calling it a game engine. it's not. the old versions (up to Ace) come with their sets of runtimes and then do their job, within their own limits, sure, but no essential need to rely on anything but their own assets. install the libraries once, and play whatever game wants them, it's all locally.Well I still consider it a game engine. It just lacks a lot of performance.
Next engine will probably be a lot better I'm sure.
