So everyone is asking themselves about why they even play the games they play. Oh and good character focus on Arthur this time. I always thought her character didn't have any real motivations and seems she is searching for them herself.

Funny change in tone for this episode with the real life shenanigans.

@Stark700 yeah the arc they are gonna adapt now is focused on real-life. I'm really looking forward to it man. But damn, your list is crazy long

Going back in time a bit to see how everyone handled the aftermath to wethermon was cool. Felt a little out of place, but we don’t get enough Katzo moments in this so it’s cool. I like how he’s determined to push himself and not just be in sunraku’s shadow or rely on Sunraku’s info to beat bosses. The sort of gamer who refuses to watch guides or get advice on a boss fight beforehand. Respect.

Penciligon being so into the lore is really cool too. She’s the closest to me out of the trio. She talks a mean game, but she really connected to Setsuna and wants to honor her last request. Shopkeepers better verify if she’s telling the truth before letting her buy stuff though lmao

The IRL server room stuff was ridiculous. Tsukuyo and ritsuko coming to blows over the Lycagon shade buff had me dying, poor dude thought he could break it up just for them to turn on him 😂

So this is a change of pace episode, but somehow they forget SLF theater which should be perfect for a change of pace episode like this.

@phantomfandom My thoughts exactly!
A slow episode like this one was needed after a long intense fight. But SLF Theater is all about slow content, it's a perfect fit.
I would suggest using the segment about the developers as an SLF Theater.
Though, if what people are saying is correct (the next arc being about real life), maybe they didn't want people to skip it.
I feared they would go straight for Rust and Ctarnidd, I hoped we would see Sunraku relaxing, we got something better.

I really dig the storyline from the producer and game designer of Shangri-La behind the scenes. Always showing their feisty discussions whenever something major happens in the game. This is pretty unique and I like it a lot.

Also great showing what Pencilgon and OiKatzo were up to since the fight with Wezaemon. Obviously they work best if the interact with Sunraku as a trio, but they're also fun characters to follow independently.

I had a sensation that this episode is a filler. Nothing new relevant to the story was shown.

Pencilgon is so lucky that her leader accepted to giver her everything she needs for the battle with Lycagon. That’s cool:)

I guess this is filler because holy shit, not only inconsequential but also badly written and destroying the story timeline.

The Katzo segment, apart of displaying the usual pro player being a little bitch like all pro players, made sense, the problem started with Pencilgon.
Three days after the defeat of Wethermon they had basically started with the inventoria business and were pursuing Sunraku while he was searching the items to enable the armos on inventoria. This is suppossed to be set before the crystal scorpions, which means this has to be before the clan alliance meeting, yet here not only Pencilgon makes use of it, but she already refers to another fight with Lycagon (although a lie).
Lastly, the segment with the videogame company and those nuclear silo levels of security also makes little sense, but I guess is there for comedic purposes, although I think the story would be better without them at all (not only here, but after Wethermon as well) I just can't conceibe which kind of morons create a game and then get mad people are trying to clear it.

@CorbanEsp not realy, the pencilgon and katsu part are manga, but the Katsu part was longer than it was in the manga
the admin and producer part was original for the anime

@CorbanEsp It's not filler and it's a good foreshadowing for the next arc. Shangri La is easy to understand. Just pay attention to the text and you'll get the idea and the direction of the anime is very explanatory and not too difficult. Besides the narrative, this is called character development and a principle for a good story.

@tofei One of the things I like about Shangri La is that the author uses quiet moments like this to foreshadow the future of the story, and gives time to develop the characters, which is why it's one of my favorite works at the moment. Not everything is rushed. Everything happens in its own time, and there's time to care about the characters. Time, for example, is the Nephilim arc, which created Rust and Mold and will wash Ctarnidd away. It's also a good foreshadowing for another big arc this season.

ah, getting a little view behind the pugilist's motivations? hollld on... a fighting game using SLF's engine? i hope they're leasing it out to somebody else, because that company making and running SLF? as shown in this ep? shouldn't be making anything new, if their top 2 tech brains can't meet up without turning it into a giant cat-fight.

plus, that engine just doing a fighting game? meh, gonna be too too immersive for streaming content other than tournament fights... trying to watch an online streamer playing SLF or some VR fighting game isn't gonna make sense. why watch somebody fight when VR seems so dug into media? you're gonna experience it yourself, unless you're a poor MF like me and just sitting there watching something on a monitor is all you can afford... not even a good PC or a single console to do something yourself? \shrug/ there might be folks like that.

Pencil's... hmm... i still don't get her. maybe her RL is in a huge slump/depression/dry spell and she can't get work anymore for some reason? maybe she's getting too old or whatever?? hasn't had a fun boink in a while? no boyfriends/girlfriends to enjoy... so SLF has become her warm n fuzzy people stuff surrogate? too many slobbering greedy sycophants around her? ah well...

maybe next week will push the 'we goin fishing now?' storyline forwards with Sunraku etc. ??

Welp, I guess we're waiting another week for the arc to start properly. This episode while going over what Katzo and Pencilgon were doing after the fight felt like it could have been saved for an OVA. Same thing with the fight that while cute didn't offer us much outside the fact that the shadow's defeat didn't change much in the world story and that it had been stat boosted by quite a bit.

Hopefully next time it starts properly.

I'm not sure if this is filler, but I really enjoyed the episode! After so much focus on Sunraku, it was refreshing to see things from OiKatzo and Pencilgon's perspectives after defeating Wezaemon.

They both have their own motivations as well. OiKatzo, being the only one who plays video games professionally, doesn't want to be left behind as he continues to hone his skills for the job. And Pencilgon... well, as always cashing in on her scams. She's so good at lying that her lies practically manifest in reality. In the end, Sunraku did end up with a special Lycagon scenario. 😂

This was an interesting episode that felt one part catch up with the characters we haven't seen in a long time, and another part recap almost. Since the story went back over a lot of events important to those characters and we had narration that talked about basic character information it definitely had recap elements. It was nice seeing both Oikatzu and Pencilgon again after a long time of not. They're both still up to usual shenanigans, Oikatzu training in the game's engine and Pencilgon swindling people. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Since progress even minimal was made against one of the games coloseus it makes sense to see the game devs again. They're bickering about minute changes which is also pretty ordinary for them too.

Doesn't matter what you think Kei, you are in fact inferior to Sunraku and Pencilgon, pro gamer or whatever, no hard feelings. If people could become better just by thinking the world would have been a shittier place. On top of that it's time for his arc already. Anime only people are gonna love it lol, specially the ones who were complaining about the mini arc in the other game lmao, good luck.

Anyway always good to have more Pencilgon. Girl never change and stays the most amusing character. Really interested in more lore and the place Setsuna of bygone days mentioned should be filled with it. Looking forward to that. Unless the devs kill each other before that and the game has to shutdown thanks to it.

Kinda scary how this is how reality actually is. Devs are always either nerfing shit or adding way too many buffs to make Whales appease their addiction.

@teymarofc And if you payed attention to my text you'd have seen that the complaint is that this doesn't match with the story flow we have had until now.
The "three days after defeating Wethermon" throws off the rest of the events.

Yeah, the story is simple af, which makes even more impressive fucking up the timeline which is why I thought this was filler.

While it was nice to have some focus on Sunraku's group members I was a bit surprised that Sunraku didn't get to meet Rust and Mold yet especially after it being teased in the last episode. Having said that I'd like to see Sunraku team up with Oikatzo and Pencilgon again.

It's nice catching up with the others in Particular Kei, though I can't say I really like Peniciligon. Kei Uomi is probably one of my favorite charachters, but no matter what I can't really get Penciligion to grow on me. Also for example, why would anyone *ever* trust her or make an alliance with her, she's just constantly lying all the time.
Poor guy rip, honestly though not sure about this trope either. It's "kind of" funny but not really especially if repeated which it probably will be. I dunno I'm not sure why, it feels like it's on the edge of actually being funny, but it's not. For example does he have any "actual" reason to interfere with their fighting? Especially so ineffectively? Just let them beat each other up. As a matter of fact that would probably waste less time than if you try to stop them.
It's like this saying we have "If you're in a boat and you see everyone else rowing towards a ledge/wall, don't row against them because it will only take longer before you crash, instead row with them so you reach the wall faster."
If it's gonna go wrong inevitably and you can't stop it, then there's no point in trying instead you should make sure it's over as quick as possible and once they metaphorically or literally "crash" you can change direction.
