I dislike how they use POV to mean “concept” or “scenario” but a lot of the Tiktok POVs are genuinely engaging lol. Reminds me of my roleplaying days, and Devianart, when you’d make a cool character with your favorite powers and it was just for fun.

you know what this makes me think about? all the Wattpad fics every girl in middle school wrote, either as a fanfic where they're the overpowered self insert, either as a fic where she and all her friends have different super powers, in diverse settings. it's actually pretty nostalgic to me, my friends and I had each wrote a story with all of us as inserts. it was pretty cool. how I got into art was actually by drawing my character in my friends fic.

ive only seen one superhero pov on tiktok and it was actually funny. for context, it was this person that was walking in a school and an "off screen" person says something like "whats ur super power?" and the dude goes "I can fly underwater" and then the off screen person is just like "dude that's just swimming" and then the dude just makes a distraught look at the end. its pretty epic

Good. Gimme all the superpowers. Superheros (or villains, I'm not picky) don't have to be proper adults. They can just kinda do whatever and it usually works out.
@Trinity M considering how most of these things are either addictive, or extremely easy to binge eat, targeted at children, full of artifical flavors sweetners and colors, preservative, hfcs, and horrifying levels of sugar, I'd say they're still bad for you. Sure sugar isn't inherently bad, but if something is 85% sugar and a healthy serving of it is a single 2cm piece, how likely is anyone to stick to that? Also I'm pretty sure everyone is being sarcastic by calling the chemicals toxic. Unless we live in a supernatural episode where hfcs is turning people into zombies, it's a joke.

As an 18 year old, I must say that if I was given the ability to control fire, it probably wouldn't take long for me to make Everything be on fire, so us not having superpowers is probably for the best
As a 19 year old, I'd become an Elsa and eventually snap so.. yes. And considering our prefrontal cortex doesn't fully finish developing until 25.. I suggest we leave it for then, and/or develop a series of tests to consider whether someone is ready for the power to commit arson at the literal snap of a finger lol.
As a 16 year old girl with 2 charges of attempted arson already, I would bump that number up to 9 real quickly.

It’s funny that they’re really obsessed with the ‘they’ve got no powers, but turns out they’re the most powerful, be careful how you treat others’ trope because it always reminds me of Barbie Fairytopia.
A children’s movie. From 2005.
As a Barbie movies fan since 5, Elina (protagonist) actually does not have any hidden super power. Elina is a fairy who was born with no wings so it was considered a disability in Fairytopia. She was the only one who can stop Laverna (villain) because she wasn't affected by the toxic powder that was spreaded throughout the land by Laverna, that made fairies can't fly. Laverna is a sister of the Fairy Queen, who was put into a deep sleep by Laverna so she can control the land. She was then offered wings by Laverna but rejected it in order to save Fairytopia. She only got her wings from the Fairy Queen after saving Fairytopia.
Also a very common trope in Manga and Manwha
They actually remind me of another children’s movie from the early 2000s called Sky high lmao.

I like the one where the guy’s power is “can talk to objects” and powers of that kind like being able to talk to animals, because it’s most people can talk to anything and everything; themselves, animals, objects, plants, walls, a camera…those things just don’t talk back. I get that the power means that someone can speak with or have a conversation with whatever it is, but it’s funny to imagine someone thinking that monologuing at random things is a superpower. Or imagining that actually being a power, so suddenly no one else can talk to anything but someone else.
Also, how did the pen know the answer to the question?

I've actually been reading a very nice manga where the protagonist does have the power to interrogate objects: cars, laptops, phones, anything that is a machine even if he's locked out of them. He just needs to touch the object, ask his question, and then listen to it. The art is really pretty, too.

In all honestly, generating a completely random power, especially every day, would be disastrous. Even if you don't take into account the fucked up things people would do with them, such as mind control rape.
But you'd also run the risk of generating a power thats just completely fucked up, such as that one kid in an X-men comic who's mutation was literally just constantly emitting different kinds of radiation and chemicals that basically made it so any living thing in a certain radius around him would die a horrific, painful death.
that last sentence of the first paragraph had me do a double-take
I think I remember hearing about an X-Men mutant whose power was just lighting himself on fire so they had to mercy kill him
On that mind control point, a lot of writers don't seem to realise the full potential of what mind control can be used for. So often it's like used for hero v hero fights, or making the hero a double agent or their minion. Like, if you mind control the right people you could literally cause a nuclear apocalypse, or 9/11 a thousand times over, but I've basically never seen any story that realises this.
And on the whole mind control someone into dating point, the amount of stories that don't realise the full horror of love spells/potions is actually insane, like for some reason it's one of the most common haha silly plots despite it literally being the magical version of date rape drugs

Like, maybe flesh out a plot and some world building, use a different medium that isn't TikTok... Who knows, they might have a decent story on their hands

Some people in the POV community are really creative and come up with a lot of interesting ideas but it's really obvious when some people are just doing it for clout. One creator i think does a great job is ehmilyevans. She has a really good series about people in a theatre group and the effort she puts into these videos is great. The characters aren't one dimensional and they distinct personalities. She has a lot of range

Sadly, no cure, little research due to it being rare,
Treatments of symptoms with tons of surgeries and meds with a lot of guessing is basically where we are at right now,
But I'm here, I got a laugh, which made my whole day so so much better 💖
