How difficult was it to work on the drumskin?

Not very, diffisult honestly. With the india ink the drum was a little resistant to taking the ink (it was like putting water on wax paper), but more brush strokes worked it in. Acrylic is just like working on a canvas :)

I would imagine that acrylic would be easier to work with but India ink would be more permanent once you got it properly absorbed. :3

Honestly, I'm nervous about the india ink. I'm not sure how I like it compared to acrylic. I guess only time will tell. I told the store owner to tell the person he sells the drum to that they can get it touched up by me for free if the ink wears any time soon.

My other two drums, which were painted with acrylic, survived the flood (after some cleaning and sanitizing), and are holding up well, so that's definitely strong support int he acrylic direction, haha!

That's good to know! I would have thought drumming would cause acrylic to crack or flake off.

My guess is it depends on how thick you lay it down. When I painted with the acrylic I used a lot of water mixed in so it is a very thin layer. (I.e. I don't think it's "thick" enough to crack on my drums.)

I have that same Bodhran! Tis a good one.

My personal bodhran is a bit bigger and has a crossbar in the back, rather than a t-bar, and no wedge taken out. I didn't have a chance to play this one, but I'm glad you enjoy yours! I hope whomever buys this one will enjoy it as much as you do :)
