how big is your anime backlog fucker???

200 anime? 300 anime?

396 ANIME???

that feeling of having started so many anime but having finished so few sucks balls......

fine......................... let me tell you about

✧・゚: * THE STEPPACT *:・゚✧

WHAT IS THE STEPPACT?
the steppact is a pact between friends that forces them to pick away at their respective backlogs. it also motivates them to watch that one anime they kinda wanna finish but they kinda don't.

the method is two steps forward and one step backward. every steppacter must finish two anime in their backlog before they are allowed to begin a new anime. it is a pact between MEN

WHAT DO I NEED?

all you need is:

  • friends

it's ok to click away now. anyway,

all you need is:

  • friends with anime backlogs
  • a punishment for the person who violates the steppact
  • some degree of honesty between your friends

WHAT IS THE PUNISHMENT?
the punishment is enforced when the steppacter starts a new anime before they finished their mandatory two anime from their backlog. in my steppact i have with my homie gin, the punishment is forcing them to eat this famously spicy chicken sandwich that turns your insides out and demolishes you. it's awful. we have not had any violations once. it's the best thing i've done with my friend, no joke.

WHAT IS THE REWARD?
after yapping with gin, we came up with a new reward system you can use if you want. either way, you gotta have the punishment system for the steppact to work. our new reward is that if the steppacter finishes 20 anime, they can remove any anime they want from their list. you can use this to remove an anime you really really don't want to finish. you can also adjust this 20 anime figure to be 5 or 10 or 30 or whatever you want.

HOW DO I START THE STEPPACT?
to start a steppact, all you need to do is text your friends lol. the steppact works between a good group of friends, not a thread. the idea of a MAL steppact doesn't work because you are not going to notice if lolifeetsniffer91 watches the fourth season of onichichi rebuild without finishing jujutsu kaisen season 3. BUT if you are in a good group of friends, you can trust your uh uh Fred over lolifeetsniffer91

WHAT ARE THE RULES OF THE STEPPACT?
here's where it goes into the fine print. these are the house rules i have in my steppact, but you and your friends can change them in your steppact. note that an "anime" is also referred to as a "step", in that you have to complete two steps (two anime) before unlocking a new step (a new anime).

  1. what counts as one anime is one entry on myanimelist. this means dbz at 291 episodes will count as one step and a 1.5 hr movie will count as one step.
  2. you are not allowed to remove an anime from your backlog to free yourself from having to complete it. UNLESS see rule 8 OR the anime exceeds 80 hours in total and you have finished over 40 hours. the steppact is for people who start way too many anime and finish too few, so this forces them to think harder about what they start. also the guy who browses this forum doesn't typically start 500 episode shounen anyway.
  3. this is where my fellow steppacter and i disagreed: airing shows. i would say that airing shows do count as steps you have to unlock normally, but i let it slide for him because that's his weekly routine. remember you can have it whatever way you want in your steppact.
  4. if you finish an anime and the next season airs in the next 6 months, your step is not considered finished and you have to finish that next season.
  5. hentai anime do not count as steps.
  6. steps can also count as video games!!!! i personally allow visual novels to count as steps too.
  7. anime for group watches do not count as steps and you can start them with your homies as you wish, unless you and your homie share so many common interests and as much free time as you that you can use it as an excuse to start anything anytime.
  8. edit: NEW RULE! you can also have a reward system where if a steppacter finishes 20 steps, they can remove any step they want from their backlog. they no longer have to complete it. this can be used to remove any really long anime or straight up dogshit

DOES THE STEPPACT ACTUALLY WORK?
ohh brother manz YOU BET it works. over the past half a year, this our steppact journey.

fellas thoughts? i thought this was a great idea and it's been super successful.
LIST OF STEPPACT LEADERS AND THE STEPS THEY TOOK

  1. just me (14/63 steps completed from me, 15/~200 steps completed from gin)

Well this is a nice challenge but I exclude the punishment since not
thing, instead I using a reward system.

@Kisaragi_Toka reward system? How would that work? What kind of reward can be given among your friend group? I can’t think of any reliable reward system except for a handy

after yapping with gin, he came up with a good reward system where if a steppacter finishes 20 anime, they can take any step they want off of their steppact. i edited the OP to reflect this
