Oooh, a thread for me!

I wouldn't call myself a "hip hop head" or anything, but I got a decent number of favourites. The old-school stuff is good enough, but I've always preferred a more alternative/experimental sound in general so the rappers I listen to the most tend to reflect that.

Some of my favourites include:

Bones
Cage
Death Grips
Earl Sweatshirt
Eminem
Ghostemane
Kendrick Lamar
Lil Peep
Mac Miller
MF Doom
NF
Playboi Carti
Tyler, the Creator
XXXTentacion
ZillaKami

Plenty of others I also enjoy, but hasn't listened to enough of to say whether they're a favourite or not.

I’m a very casual listener in music. I never get super into any artist so I often don’t listen to most of their catalogue.

But if I have to pick my favorites, it would be Eminem, Notorious B.I.G, Run the Jewels, Snoop Dogg and Nas among others I also like,

Also started checking out MF DOOM and Kendrick lately

I listen to the real, underground shit. Madvillain, Eyedea & Abilities, Necro, El-P, Smut Peddlers and the whole Weathermen crew is always up there. Cage in particular is the best, the original Eminem. And of course the legends like Tupac and Biggie and Geto Boys will always be the best. Also enjoy some of the trap metal stuff as of late, but really in general hip hop has taken a big nosedive ever since it got all mainstreamed and pacified after the 2000s. Now it's mostly just sissy shit.

Eminem bit Cage's style wholesale, screwed him over and blackballed him out of success. You can't like em both.

Lol got a Cage stan here on Rule34, what a small world.

Look, Cage can rap, but Eminem did not bite his fucking style. You do realise Em recorded the Slim Shady EP before Agent Orange even dropped right? Cage dropped AO in mid-1997, SSE was recorded in late 1996 to early 1997. So right away that completely disproves any idea of Slim Shady being based off Cage's persona.

As for other supposedly "stolen" lyrics like Eminem "biting" Cage's bars about Rage Against the Machine and hysterectomies, that's equally bullshit. Rage is a super famous band and everyone knows what hysterectomies are; two different people coming up with those lines on their own is a pretty easy coincidence.

And let's just be real: the two don't even sound remotely alike at all. Seriously, if you're going to accuse of Eminem copying, maybe actually listen to his records first. They're only "similar" insofar as they're both white and make horrorcore. I bet you're one of those people who also thinks The Hunger Games stole from Battle Royale, because the logic there is equally comical.

If you like Cage, that's great, I do too. But the only person who blackballed him was himself, end of story.

And here we have another suburban poser trying to act like he's hard shit for liking Bitch Lady, what a not-so-small world.

Eminem stole his entire identity and life story from Cage. He's a proven liar; he didn't grow up poor or face hardship of any kind, his mom ran a taxi service and pampered him all through his childhood and lots of eyewitnesses back her up. Cage ACTUALLY went through real shit, going to Stony Lodge and being abused and getting inspired from A Clockwork Orange, which Eminem ALSO ripped off in his promotional material. It's true, Em didn't copy all of Cage's lyrics, but he took his style and made it more mainstream and quirky instead of the authentic personal trauma that Cage made it into. That's why he was blackballed, 'cause no one would fuck with that. Even Rick Rubin called him a wigger and wouldn't sign him.

If you don't appreciate real hip hop that's on you, but you and all you other Em stans are full of shit.

I'd love to know who these "eyewitnesses" are, because all the claims you're talking about come from Debbie's hilariously self-fellating autobiography. She literally denies ever treating her son wrong and goes on and on about all the ridiculously amazing things she's done for everyone else, when we have countless people in real life to counter that. I'm not saying she was *as* bad as Eminem made her out to be (he's even apologised to her on multiple occasions) but the fact that's your only "evidence" for his entire life being fake really speaks for itself doesn't it?

You're right that Cage was never going to be a mainstream star, but there are plenty of rappers who are just as dark as him and are still more popular. Yes, not having Dre to back you up is a big disadvantage, but maybe if he wasn't such a jealous little bitch he could've collaborated with Em and they could've had a nice little career together, who knows. Always fun to fantasise, right?

And let's be honest: Cage has terrible enunciation. If anything was holding him back it was that lol.
