In almost every jurisdiction officers are not allowed to get free meals from the establishment. If a kind stranger pays for it before they can, that's another story and in no way strikes as purchasing favoritism, unless the person buying the meal is known to the officers as an offender or someone under investigation.
Did anyone else see the story of a Cheesecake Factory manager denying SIX uniformed officers and their families a table and asking them to leave? Happened in Tacoma. The manager told them it was a gun-free zone (Those rules don't apply to identified, sworn officers and if it's not posted on an approved sign explaining why, it's not binding or legal, btw) and asked them to leave. I guess they're big fans of mass shootings and robbery.
